Dash Teak House offers flavoursome Thai and Western cuisine in a beautiful traditional teak house built in the Lanna style of Northern Thailand. The menu has dishes from all over Thailand, as well as some offerings from the West, so there’s something for everyone. Check out the other places we ate at in Thailand.
Dash Teak House is a beautiful building and there’s a large courtyard to sit outside. At night the courtyard is filled with candlelight, which gives it a very romantic ambience. A little wasted on me as I was there with my mum, but hey-ho.
We ordered cocktails and wine – although the price was quite reasonable the quality wasn’t great.
Dash is known for their curries. We went for the massaman (175 Baht) which contains peanuts and many aromatic spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, and star anise. These flavours aren’t traditionally ‘Thai’ so this is a good one to go for if you want to mix it up a bit. This one got the seal of approval from mum, who’s curries are legendary.
We also went for the garlic fried squid (175 Baht), stir-fried morning glory (100 Baht), and crispy pork belly (175 Baht). All were very good, but the garlic fried squid was the star. I love how in Thailand they use an unreasonable amount of garlic – when they say garlic fried they mean it!
Dash Teak House is the perfect place to come if you want to experience traditional Thai architecture and dine in romantic candlelight. The curries are the highlight here, however, I would say that the rest of the food is as good as you can get elsewhere, nothing special. That said Dash is perfect if you are in a group with lots of different tastes, as the menu has something for everyone.
